Italian Classes
/l/1800/1895_s.jpg

Classes are open to adults of all ages, and young people 8 and up.

Because of the amount of material covered at each level, most students continue for more than one session at the same level until they feel ready to move on. In this way, the classes are very much like "workshops" and are designed to be always new from session to session.

Beginning Italian I

We start with greetings, numbers, basic vocabulary and prounuciation and by the end of the session will be able to communicate in basic sentences in the present tense. This is a good place to start even for those who have had a little bit of Italian and need a review as there is a lot of material covered.

Beginning Italian I Conversation

A review and integration of Beginning I. Now that you are somewhat conversational, get ready to be asked to keep a journal in Italian and enjoy the opportunity to answer questions in Italian in class on your own (if you want to!)

Beginning Italian II

Now we are ready for new material. Past tenses (passato prossimo & imperfetto), new grammar, and more vocabulary are covered in the form of stories, (those we read and your own) and conversations with classmates. Lots of fun!

Intermediate Italian I

A continuation of Beginning II, adding in more grammar, future and conditional tenses. Continued practice speaking, reading aloud, and listening. We are starting to get a "feel" for Italian. Evviva!

Intermediate Italian II

This class is taught with the Advanced class. Brace yourself for the subjunctive (the what?), commands, idioms, continued practice with speaking, listening, and writing.

Advanced Italian

Ce l'abbiamo fatta! (We made it!) For those who want to continue to maintain and refine their Italian. More review of any grammatical points as needed. Reading, listening and of course, speaking, are all practiced through conversation, story writing, watching videos and listening to Italian music.

Please see "Calendar" for Class Schedule, or click "Register" to find out how to join us! A presto.
